Come To The Water

By Kim Wells
In a dry place? Take a drink from the well that never runs dry.

Prayer Warrior Ministries - How many times has this happened?
We are enjoying our life, everything is just fine, all that we have put our hands to is being blessed, we are on top of the world!
Then one morning, we wake and find that somehow, we are in a desert, and extremely thirsty.

If you are anything like me, you can't figure out how you got there, so, you put your thinking cap on, wander around for while, scratching your head, and wonder, wonder, wonder.

Well, we figure, this must be a trial, because surely I have done nothing to cause this, that is it, it is simply a trial.

"Boy, oh, boy, am I thirsty"

"There has got to be some water around here", we think, so we go  traipsing through that desert, searching for some water. Just one cold sip will refresh us.

We are now getting desperate, so we call the pastor.
"Pray for me", we ask, "For I am in a place that I am not familiar with, and I am really thirsty".
Turning on the television, we seek counsel from evangelists there. Maybe, just maybe, the Lord will speak through them to me? Maybe they can show me where that well is! Maybe I can take one little drink from their cup? Ah, just one little drop of cold water is all I need!

Finally, almost to the point of dehydration, we remember where the well can be found!!

Picking up our Bible, we turn the pages.

Lord, we pray, I am dying of thirst! Fill my cup!
Ah, yes, now we see the well!
Jesus!
How did we miss that? How could we have possibly forgotten? Has it been that long since I have spent time in His Word?

Searching for the water, we see where Jesus says,"If you are thirsty, come to Me", and our mouth begins to salivate.
Finding the place where the woman is at the well when Jesus says, "You would have asked Me,'Give me a drink,'and I would have given you living water", and we run up to the well!

Our mouth begins to anticipate the drink that is coming.
We can taste the cold refreshing liquid on our tongue when we read where Jesus tells us, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst".

Hallelujah! We have found the water! We put our cup down into the well and drink deeply of this water, till our bellies are full, and overflowing.

After we have drank our fill, it comes to us how we ended up here in this desert.
We wandered away from the well, thinking that we had enough water to last, and wouldn't need it anymore.
We now realize we must remain close to this place of refreshment, for this water is what our lives depend on.

Have you wandered from the well? Do you need a drink of water? Go to the well, for Jesus is there, pouring His water into your cup.

Drink up!
